An early American model 1842 US Aston & Company .54 caliber percussion pistol, manufactured in 1852 in Middletown, CT. With brass trigger guard, grip tang, barrel band, hinged metal ram rod, and stamped hammer plate stating “US H ASTON MIDD'TN CONN 1852.” The pistol has a beautifully preserved 8.5” smooth-bore iron barrel. The walnut stock with a visible Cartouche on its left flat and stamped proof marks on top of barrel. Total pistol length 14.25”. The hammer stays at half and full cock with strong action, the metal is polished and extremely well preserved. Ex Middletown, NY collection. With custom metal stand (entire display measures 14.25”L x 2.75”W x 7.5”H). This is an antique, and not warranted safe to shoot without restoration and the aid of a skilled professional. An attractive and historic display-piece! Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
