English Belt Clip Percussion Pistol // Mid-1800's
Product Description
An excellent English Belt Clip Percussion Pistol in .50 caliber with a single round capacity and a 5" octagonal barrel. Made in the mid-1800’s, this pistol is beautifully preserved with nickel-silver butt plate and engraving plate, and a checkered wood grip. The trigger guard, trigger, hammer, lock and barrel are all nicely engraved, and there is a swing-out ramrod under the barrel. It has a rear-notch and front-fixed metal bead sight and a pistol belt clip on the left side of the barrel; English Birmingham proof marks on the underside of barrel as well. The hammer still holds at half and full cock, with strong action. In lovely antique condition with some light scratches, finish wear/loss, metal pitting and small wood crack on the left side of grip, all to be expected on a pistol of this age. Barrel Length: 5”, total pistol length 9”. Ex Plantsville, CT collection. *** This is an antique, and not warranted safe to shoot without restoration and the aid of a skilled professional. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
