Product Description
Ancient Rome, circa 145 BC to 235 AD. A wonderful small hoard of 10 Roman silver coins. The earliest is a small Quinarius struck circa 145 BC, depicting the head of Roma on one side and The Dioscuri riding on horseback on the other. The rest of the coins are Roman silver denarii of various emperors and empresses of the Flavian and Severan era, including Vespasian (69–79 AD), Trajan (98-117 AD), Severus Alexander (222-235 AD). The coins bear the portrait of the emperor or empress on one side, with Latin inscriptions around, and various Roman scenes, gods and goddesses with Latin inscriptions on the other side. Average size about 18-19 mm. Ex Aegean Numismatics, Mentor, Ohio. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
