A beautiful Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th-5th Century AD. This choice example is 3.5” high and portrays Buddha with elongated ears, pierced lobes and convex Urna. He is depicted with the classic serene expression and curly coif gathered into a top knot. A beautiful example, in excellent condition, with light mineral deposits. Mounted on stand (entire piece stands 4.5” tall). Reference: Pal “Indian Sculpture”, page 243 for type. Ex Exotica Gallery, Carmel, CA; from the collection of Cheryl Harris, Big Sur, CA.
