Product Description
Byzantine Empire, circa 5th-8th Century AD. A wonderful and very small early Byzantine bronze icon amulet depicting a facing saint, with halo, holding Book of Gospels. His cloak is adorned with two buttons and a small cross in the center. There is a nicely detailed border, and a small suspension loop which was pressed together and fused in ancient times. The artifact measures just 18mm (11/16”)H and is nicely preserved with light earthen and mineral deposits. Ex Glassman collection, Florida. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
