Product Description
An Ancient Greek bronze incendiary spearhead, circa 8th–5th Century BC. A beautifully preserved cast bronze spearhead with leaf-shaped blade and wide socketed base. The blade is pierced on both sides, allowing flammable material to be attached and hurled toward the enemy in battle. Measures 3 1/4 inches in length, with a wonderful green patina. Ex collection of David Van Vleck, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, acquired in the 1990s.
