An early American Model 1842 US Aston & Company .54 caliber percussion pistol, manufactured in 1850. With brass trigger guard, grip tang, barrel band, hinged metal ram rod, checkered hammer, and stamped hammer plate stating “US ASTON 1850.” The pistol has a beautifully preserved 8.5” .54-caliber smooth-bore iron barrel. The walnut stock with 2 visible “Cartouches” (inspector marks): JJC and HCJ on its left flat, made in Middletown, Connecticut. Dated 1850 on lock and barrel. Excellent condition with good patina, hammer holds at half cock and full cock, some original finish remaining. Total pistol length 14.25”.
