A nice Thai bronze bust of Buddha, c. 18th-19th century AD. Part of an originally larger statue, Buddha is depicted with serene features, elongated ears and hair in tight curls. Atop his head is the characteristic ushnisha with smooth, tapered point. The bust itself measures 4”H. With antique wood base (entire piece with base stands 6.5” tall). Nicely-preserved with deep olive-green patina and earthen and mineral deposits. Ex New York City private collection.Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
