Being offered today is an EXTREMLY RARE ERROR STRIKE example of a 1936 S (San Francisco) Buffalo Nickel WITH RAINBOW TONING. The coin carries a very HIGH GRADE of Mint State 66. It’s perfect for a coin that was minted 88 years ago.
If you look on the reverse of the coin the strike is off center, making this an error coin.
The reverse of the coin has red, blue, and purple all over. The front displays some of the rainbow toning all over the face.
Error coins are much harder to find because the mint highly scrutinizes all coins for a perfect strike. It is very rare that these coins are released from the mint into the public.
